Adrien Broner reportedly arrested just weeks before career defining fight against Manny Pacquiao
Adrien Broner was reportedly arrested on Sunday, just under four weeks before his fight with Manny Pacquiao.
The Cincinnati welterweight is said to have been picked up by police on December 23 in Broward County, Florida, after a warrant for his arrest was issued earlier in the month.
According to TMZ, the warrant relates to a case dating back to last December, when Broner was arrested for having no driver’s licence, no registration, no proof of insurance and for speeding.
He was supposedly meant to appear in court multiple times over the past 12 months to settle the issues, however, he has failed to do so.
It’s understood he was booked and then released, and his fight with Manny Pacquiao will be unaffected by the situation.
Broner is a four-division world champion while Pacquiao is an eight-weight king and the pair are set to fight on January 19 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
The bout will be shown on Showtime PPV in the US, while it’s live and free on ITV in the UK.
