Amir Khan claims Anthony Joshua is behind Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury as boxing’s best heavyweights

Amir Khan believes unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has slipped behind rivals Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury.

Following Wilder and Fury’s dramatic fight on December 1 – which ended in a draw – the 32-year-old now sees AJ as number three in the world and believes he won’t be able to rectify that any time soon.

Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder’s WBC title fight was declared a draw

When asked if he sees an undisputed fight between the Brit and Deontay Wilder happening next, Khan told The Express: “I don’t think the fight will happen.

“There’s a lot to lose for Joshua in that fight. But, I can see the [Wilder vs Fury] rematch happening more likely.”

Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury have already talked up a potential second fight between themselves, with representatives from both men confirming early talks are underway.

This is a bout that Amir Khan would be happy to see once more.

Amir Khan has said he wants to fight Kell Brook next

“That was a great fight,” the Bolton man continued, “As a fight fan, it was wicked to watch.

“Fury dodged a few big shots but landed on the floor twice. But he came back from it.

The way he came back, not a lot of people would ever think that, with those big shots he took. Because a lot of people are out for the count from them.

“I had Fury winning the fight, even though Wilder is a friend of mine. I scored the fight and I thought Fury won by one or two rounds.

“It’s just a shame to see a British judge, out of all the judges, record a draw. I mean, what fight was he really watching.”

Anthony Joshua is the WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight world champion

With the rematch in the works for next spring/summer and Anthony Joshua likely headed for a rematch with Dillian Whyte instead, Amir Khan now insists AJ is the third best heavyweight on the planet.

“It was a great fight and I can’t wait to see the second one,” Khan concluded.

“And I think it’s showed the world that the best two heavyweights in the world have to be Fury and Wilder. Because both of them look unbeatable.”
