Arsenal in ‘pole position’ to beat Roma to the signing of Samuel Umtiti from Barcelona – reports
Arsenal are in ‘pole position’ to sign Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti this summer, according to reports.
Umtiti is unlikely to have a shortage of suitors, with Manchester United long-term admirers of the centre half.
However, reports suggest it is Premier League rivals Arsenal who are leading the race for his signature.
According to Tutto Mercato, the Gunners are ahead of Roma, Juventus and the Red Devils to get the 25-year-old.
The Giallorossi have retained a strong interest in Umtiti as speculation around the future of Kostas Manolas continues to swirl.

Manolas, who knocked out Barcelona in last season’s Champions League, is another option for Man United who are on the hunt for marquee centre halves.
Last summer, former boss Jose Mourinho tried and failed to sign the likes of Diego Godin, Harry Maguire and Toby Alderweireld.
But Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will reportedly receive a £200million transfer war chest from Ed Woodward to avoid such a scenario again.
