Arsenal outcast Granit Xhaka ‘begins house hunting’ in Milan ahead of possible January transfer to Serie A
Granit Xhaka has reportedly started house hunting in Milan as he prepares for a possible January move away from Arsenal.
Xhaka was stripped of the Arsenal captaincy after confronting fans who booed him as he was withdrawn from the 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace last month.
The Switzerland international has not featured for the Gunners since, missing the Carabao Cup loss to Liverpool, draws with Wolves and Vitoria, and Saturday’s defeat at Leicester.
Manager Unai Emery decided to give the armband to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, while he refused to say if the Switzerland international would play for the club again.
According to RSI, Xhaka could be set to seal a move to Milan when the transfer window opens, and he’s already begun looking for a place to live in the Italian city.
Despite being frozen out, the 27-year-old has vowed to remain positive and force his way back into contention at the Emirates.
“I’ve been 100 per cent behind the club and my role as a player since I came here,” he said.
“I’m proud to be playing for this big club. I’ll continue to stay positive, give my all to an even greater extent and prove that I’m an important part of this great team.
“Last week in particular was a very special emotional experience for me but I’m doing very well again, I’ve trained well this week and am looking forward to my next assignments.”
