‘Biggest bad ass in wrestling!’ – Fans praise WWE NXT referee after he breaks his leg but still manages to perform count
WWE referee Tom Castor was praised by fans after he carried on with a match after breaking his leg during a match.
During Thursday’s NXT live event in Omaha, Nebraska, Castor fell awkwardly and sustained the injury to his left leg.
However, despite his foot pointing in the wrong direction, he managed to record a pinfall during the match between The Velveteen Dream and Tyler Breeze.
Referee Drake Wuertz revealed while Castor was on the stretcher, the stricken ref squeezed his hand “and proudly said ‘Drake I Love the Business’.”
Former WWE referee and current WWE producer Scott Armstrong also took to social media to congratulate his colleague for his bravery in the face of adversity.
He wrote: “Our @NXT @WWE Ref @tomcastorWWE broke his leg last night, still counted 3 and then threw up the “X” for himself!!! Shout out to Tom for being a true Pro and keeping his focus! #ReffinAintEasy! #SpeedyRecoveryTom”
