Burnley vs West Ham: Match preview and confirmed line-ups for Premier League clash
Burnley hope to end 2018 on a high against West Ham having spent the last few months firmly embroiled in a relegation dogfight.
Sean Dyche’s men are three points adrift of safety following the 5-1 home defeat to Everton last time out.
That result took the Clarets’ tally of goals conceded at 38 already for the season – just one fewer than in the whole of last term.
Their opponents West Ham have enjoyed a much more fruitful first half of the season – although that didn’t look altogether possible after a dreadful start to Manuel Pellegrini’s reign.
The Hammers were rooted to the bottom of the Premier League after losing their first four league games, but now lie ninth after an impressive turnaround in fortunes.
What the managers are saying
Sean Dyche (Burnley): “It’s not about befores, it’s about nows.
“The games coming up are massive for our season.
“It’s not about concerns, it’s about realities – we are where we are because we haven’t deserved any better. We haven’t kept the margins tight enough.”
Manuel Pellegrini (West Ham): “Really I never expect before the season where we must be. We must go game by game and we have to demonstrate in every game what we can do.
“Every team invests well in players, this league is so strong. So before the season you just have to take it game by game, but always be ambitious.”
