Cesc Fabregas appeared to make light of Danny Drinkwater’s drink driving charge.
The Chelsea midfielder was charged with the offence following an alleged crash near Manchester on Monday.
The Blues’ midfielder was arrested shortly after 12.30am, according to Cheshire Police.
The 29-year-old was released on unconditional bail and is set to appear at Stockport Magistrates’ Court on Monday, May 13.
Responding to Sky Sports News’ tweet about the incident, Fabregas, who played with Drinkwater at Chelsea before joining Monaco in January, wrote: “Danny Drinkwhat?”
The Sun reported on Tuesday that Drinkwater crashed his Range Rover after a chav-themed charity party.
A source told the paper: “It was a really nasty crash.”

Drinkwater signed for Chelsea from Leicester City in 2016 for £35 million but has failed to make his mark in the London side.
He has not featured under Italian manager Maurizio Sarri or played a competitive game for 13 months.
