Everton investigate ‘racist’ fan song about defender Yerry Mina
Everton have launched an investigation after a video footage posted on social media allegedly showed fans singing a racist chant about their own defender Yerry Mina.
Everton are working with Kick It Out after the video was posted of fans attending their defeat at Manchester City that allegedly contains racist stereotypes about Mina.
The Colombian was one of three players to join the club on transfer deadline day.
A club statement said: “Everton Football Club is aware of the video posted on social media by an unaffiliated supporters’ club.
“We are in contact with Kick it Out and are working with them to investigate the matter further.
“Everton has a zero-tolerance stance towards any form of racism.”
Kick It Out also issued a statement saying that such behaviour would not be tolerated.
The statement said: “Kick It Out is aware of footage of alleged racist chanting by supporters of Everton that emerged online.
“Racist stereotypes are never acceptable, irrespective of any intention to show support for a player.
