Fantasy Premier League GW21/22 – All You Need to Know
2017 is almost at an end and what better way to see it out and to start the new year than with 20 fixtures over a period of just six days! Below you’ll find the Gameweek 21 and 22 (GW21 and GW22) starting lineup for the Free Super Tips Fantasy Premier League team, candidates for the captain’s armband, and some other potential transfer options worth consideration.
With two gameweeks coming up in short succession, fantasy managers need to make note that Spurs and West Ham players will earn NO points in GW21, but instead feature in the first “double gameweek” of the season in GW22.

FST – GW21 Captain
Mohammed Salah (Liverpool) – £10.1m
Mohammed Salah has made a sensational return to the Premier League since signing for Liverpool over the summer as the league’s 2nd highest scorer – just three behind last season’s Golden Boot winner Harry Kane (18 goals). His 2 assists against Swansea last weekend have kept him well on track to be this season’s top FPL performer and he’s now played a role in a massive 22 of Liverpool’s 46 goals this season (15 goals 7 assists). His inclusion in this list is a must and given Liverpool’s current form in front of goal, we should see them score a few at home to Leicester on Saturday – expect the Egyptian to be in among the point earners.
FST – GW22 Captain
Harry Kane (Spurs) – £12.9m
Harry Kane surpassed Alan Shearer’s record for Premier League goals in a calendar year with a hat-trick in Tuesday’s 5-2 win over Southampton. Kane’s 39 top-flight goals in 2017 and 56 in all competitions make him the top scorer in Europe for club and country and arguably the best forward in the world at the minute. Kane’s most valuable attribute in FPL is that when he does find the back of the net, he tends to bring those coveted bonus points with him. He’s earned 22 of these so far this season and with Spurs playing the first “double gameweek” of the season in GW22 (against Swansea and West Ham), he should have ample opportunity to add to this tally.
Other GW21 and GW22 Captain Alternatives
Kevin De Bruyne or Raheem Sterling (Manchester City) – £10.3m or £8.8m
Manchester City are running riot at the top of the Premier League and Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling have arguably played the most important roles in their success. No other Premier League player has created as many chances (60) or provided as many assists (11) as Kevin De Bruyne and the Belgian has only failed to produce a goal or an assist in 4 of his last 14 Premier League outings. Sterling, meanwhile, is the second highest-scoring player in FPL, and his winner against Newcastle during the week earned him a third successive double-digit score. No team seems to be able to stop Pep Guardiola’s best XI at the minute, so giving either of these players the captain’s armband against Crystal Palace or Watford over the next two gameweeks looks to be a safe call!
FST – Ones to Watch
Marcos Alonso (Chelsea) – £7.1m
Chelsea’s raiding wing-back showed exactly why he is the most expensive defender in FPL fantasy on Tuesday – and also why he’s in our team. He collected a massive 14 points for the second time in three matches for his masterclass offensive and defensive performance (one goal, one clean sheet and two bonus points) against Brighton, and there’s never been a better time to invest in the Spaniard with a match at home to Stoke City, who have conceded more goals (41) than any other PL team, ahead of them.
Jesse Lingard (Manchester United) – £6.1m
Jesse Lingard is Manchester United’s form player ahead of gameweeks 21 and 22. While the Englishman did start on the bench on Boxing Day, he should be looking to find his way back into Mourinho’s starting XI after scoring two off the bench against Burnley. He has six goals and two assists to his name over his last seven appearances, over which he’s also taken a massive 10 bonus points, and United’s next opponents, Southampton, have kept just one clean sheet from their last 15.
Jack Wilshere (Arsenal) – £5.4m
With Aaron Ramsey injured, Wilshere has found himself starting alongside Xhaka in central midfield. Wilshere is looking more and more confident with each match and even picked up his 2nd assist of the season against Crystal Palace by providing a superb ball over the top for Chilean winger Alexis Sanchez. With just 0.4% ownership, he has the potential to be a cheap differential in the upcoming matches against West Brom and Chelsea.
Heung-Min Son (Spurs) – £8.0m
It’s probably fair to say that Heung-Min Son is one of Spurs most underrated players, overshadowed by the likes of Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli, and of course Harry Kane. In times when Spurs are struggling and Alli is short of scoring form – as is the situation currently – it is more and more the case that the South Korean international is the man who pulls the team forward. Not only is he getting consistent game time, he has scored 4 and assisted 4 in his last six outings, as well as taking 4 of those all important bonus points. With a “double gameweek” against Swansea and West Ham in GW22, he should prove a decent investment.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Everton) – £5.5m
Dominic Calvert-Lewin has become a permanent fixture upfront for Everton, and the young striker is arguably one of the most lucrative bargains in FPL at the moment. Calvert-Lewin’s underlying statistics have been consistent enough to see decent potential in him for this weekend’s encounter with Bournemouth, who have conceded 11 goals over their last three PL matches, and with Everton’s form on the up, he should prove a decent long term investment for just a fraction of your budget at £5.5m.
