Fantasy Premier League GW37 – All You Need to Know

Fantasy Premier League GW37 – All You Need to Know

Gameweek 36 turned out to be somewhat disappointing, with just three of the ten Premier League matches seeing goals at both ends. Crystal Palace’s and Man City’s five and four goal hauls were where all the FPL points were at, with as many six of the eleven spots on the “Dream Team” taken up from players from these sides!

Gameweek 37 looks to be another massive one for FPL managers all over the world. Stretching from the 4th to the 10th of May, all but eight Premier League teams are involved in a huge “double gameweek”. Now would be a smart time to use that valuable “Triple Captain” token for those yet to use it!

Below you’ll find this week’s starting lineup for the Free Super Tips Fantasy Premier League team, candidates for the captain’s armband, and other potential transfer options worth consideration ahead of Gameweek 37.

FST – GW37 Captain

Raheem Sterling or Gabriel Jesus (Manchester City) – £9.1m or £10.4m

Manchester City

Raheem Sterling looks the best way into the Man City midfield after producing three goals and four assists over his last six appearances. City, who were crowned champions after West Brom beat Man United in Gameweek 34, still have their aim on breaking a few Premier League records, and face a Huddersfield side without a clean sheet in 15 away matches before hosting Brighton just a few days later! Pep Guardiola’s men are obvious favourites for both these fixtures, averaging 3.5 goals per match at home this season, so expect a player like Gabriel Jesus to also get himself some points, having scored in four of his last five Premier League outings.

Other GW37 Captain Alternatives

Harry Kane (Spurs) – £13.0m

West Brom vs Tottenham predictions, free betting tips and match preview

Harry Kane looks to reinstate himself as the most popular armband option for Gameweek 37 after ending his five match drought with goals in consecutive fixtures against Brighton and Watford. Kane is still a massive underdog in the Golden Boot race, trailing Liverpool’s Mo Salah by four goals, but should at least be able to put some pressure on the Egyptian with a “double gameweek” against basement side West Brom and mid-table Newcastle ahead.

Paul Pogba (Manchester United) – £7.9m

Manchester United vs Arsenal

Interest in Paul Pogba has plummeted as the season has gone on, but a switch in Jose Mourinho’s system has unlocked the Frenchman’s potential. United’s adjusted 4-3-3 formation has afforded him more freedom to push forward and his 12 shots over their last four matches are six more than any teammate. Manchester United are another team with a favourable schedule that includes a visit to Brighton on Friday, followed by a midweek trip to West Ham United. Brighton have not kept a clean sheet in their last eight matches at the Amex Stadium, while West Ham’s 10 goals conceded over their last four matches is more than any other Premier League defense.

FST – Ones to Watch

Dusan Tadic (Southampton) – £6.2m

Southampton vs Bournemouth

Tadic’s display in last weekend’s 2-1 win over Bournemouth made him Gameweek 36’s top scorer with 15 points. Selected by only 2.3% of FPL managers, he could prove an important differential in the closing weeks of the season. The Serbian midfielder has been the Saints’ standout performer since Mark Hughes took charge, and his nine shots and twelve chances created over their last five matches are numbers that better any teammate. He should be worth his £6.2m price-tag ahead of trips to Everton and Swansea City in the coming week.

Jordan Ayew (Swansea) – £5.3m

Swansea vs Everton

Few FPL forwards rival Jordan Ayew in terms of value for money. Ayew has impressed since the appointment of Carlos Carvalhal as manager in December, topping the Swansea ranks for both goals (5) and shots (20). The Ghanaian forward will hope to improve these numbers over a double gameweek against Bournemouth (A) and Southampton (H). No team have conceded more goals in home matches than Bournemouth’s 30, while Southampton have conceded exactly three goals in three of their last four away fixtures.

Wilfried Zaha (Crystal Palace) – £7.0m

Crystal Palace - Wilfried Zaha

For those that have not yet looked into Crystal Palace players, the Eagles remain a sensible source of investment for the final weeks of the season, especially with such low ownership numbers. Wilfried Zaha has been Palace’s stand out performer since returning from injury in Gameweek 30. He scored a goal and assisted another in last weekend’s 5-0 thrashing of Leicester City, which takes his tally up to four goals, an assist and six bonus points from his last four (an average of around nine points per game). Crystal Palace travel to Stoke City this weekend, who have failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last five home outings.
