Football Team Form Guide
Our football team form guide looks at the best form teams in England and Europe. The idea of this article is to pick out the top teams in form with good fixtures and teams out of form with tricky fixtures to help you build your midweek or weekend accumulator. We will also look at teams in form who might have tough matches and you might want to avoid putting them in your accumulators.
We will usually focus on the major European Leagues, English football leagues and continental competitions. One thing to note is this article purely looks at form and if you’re after more detail on each match then check out our football match previews.
Let’s take a look at this week’s selections:
Best Form Teams
West Ham – The Irons have won 4 Premier League matches on the spin ahead of their clash with Watford at the London Stadium on Saturday.
That incredibly positive run makes West Ham one of the most in-form teams in the division at present.
In contrast, Watford’s victory against Cardiff last weekend is their only win in 7. With West Ham’s attacking firmly in the groove, we think they look great value at 11/8 with bet365 to extend their winning run.
West Brom – WBA’s excellent recent performances and results have catapulted them into 3rd place in the Championship.
The Baggies have been especially impressive on the road, winning their last 3 Championship matches away from home against Ipswich, Swansea and Sheffield United respectively.
On Saturday, they will be aiming to make it 4 away wins from 4 at Rotherham United. The Millers have won only 1 of their last 15 fixtures in all competitions, and WBA are available at 5/6 with bet365 to leave the AESSEAL New York Stadium with maximum points.
Luton Town – League One promotion contenders Luton Town entertain mid-table Burton Albion at Kenilworth Road on Saturday, hoping to get the points they need to maintain their title charge.
The Hatters have won their last 6 league games on home turf, and 9 of their last 10 League One fixtures there in total.
Burton on the other hand, have lost 3 of their last 4 league contests. Luton Town are priced very generously at 4/6 with bet365 to take the points.
Atalanta – Europa League qualification hopefuls Atalanta have won 3 of their last 4 matches away from home in Serie A – a sequence that has helped them hang on to 6th place ahead of Italian giants Roma.
This weekend, they put their away record to the test against a Genoa side that hasn’t won any of their last 11 matches in all competitions.
Atalanta have beaten Genoa on each of their last 5 meetings with them, and La Dea are priced brilliantly at 10/11 with bet365 to maintain their dominance over the Rossoblu on Saturday.
Saint Etienne – Saint Etienne have quietly been one of the most impressive performers in Ligue 1 this season.
Les Verts are within 4 points of Lyon in 3rd spot after 17 games, and their Champions League chase has largely been fuelled by their superb home form.
Saint Etienne have won 6 and drawn 2 of their 8 Ligue 1 matches at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard since the summer.
Dijon, who haven’t won any of their last 7 away games, should pose little threat to Saint Etienne’s terrific home record. You can get odds of 8/15 with bet365 for the home win here.
Hamburg – Hamburg are doing everything they can to make a swift return to the German top flight after their recent relegation to the 2. Bundesliga.
After 17 games, Die Rothosen sit proudly at the summit of the table, and Hamburg have their away form to thank for their position.
Hamburg have won 7 of their 8 matches on the road in the league in 2018/19, and on Sunday they are favourites to enhance that record further against a Holsten Keil side that has won only 3 of their 8 matches at home this season.
Hamburg are available at 11/10 with bet365 to emerge victorious this weekend.
Other teams in form to note:
English and Scottish champions, Man City and Celtic, are aiming to maintain their perfect home starts against Crystal Palace and Dundee respectively this weekend.
Spurs have won 8 of their last 10 away games in the Premier League ahead of their trip to play Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday.
Edinburgh City are gunning for their 7th away win in 8 at Cowdenbeath on Saturday, while PAOK will be looking to make it 8 home wins from 8 against Giannina on Sunday.
