Former UFC star Conor McGregor teases WWE run after praising WrestleMania 35 main event
Former UFC star Conor McGregor has teased a WWE run again.
The 30-year-old retired from mixed martial arts last month, which led to speculation that he could appear at WrestleMania 35.
The ex-UFC two-weight champion was not seen at the MetLife Stadium on Sunday, but tweeted his admiration for Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch and Ronda Rousey.
The trio starred in the first-ever women’s main event at the Show of Shows as Lynch pinned Ronda to become the inaugural Raw and SmackDown Live Women’s champion.
And while congratulating them, McGregor posed the question to WWE chief brand officer Stephanie McMahon about whether he could mix it with the company’s top superstars.
He said: “Congrats to Irelands [sic] Becky Lynch, the WWE’s first Champ Champ.
“What a match these ladies put on! Ronda Rousey is something special in that ring, as is Charlotte Flair of the Flair dynasty!
“Stephanie McMahon you are right, I could not do what these athletes do.
“Or could I…”
McGregor has offered to ‘back up’ Lynch in WWE in the past.
Brock Lesnar and Rousey have made the transition from mixed martial arts to WWE in recent years – and McGregor could be the next big name to join them.
