It’s Official! Paul Pogba has signed for Manchester United

It seemed like it would never end. So many twists and turns slowed down and prolonged the deal, but finally – PAUL POGBA HAS SIGNED FOR MANCHESTER UNITED!

It’s the last of Mourinho’s 4 signings that he wanted to make when he took over the club this summer. Pogba signs for a fee of around £89 million, making him the most expensive player ever. This surpasses the previous world record of £86 million paid for Welsh hero Gareth Bale.

No one can argue that United have had one of the best transfer windows of any club this summer – managing to sign the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Paul Pogba from Champions League sides to a club that hasn’t even qualified for Europe’s biggest competition. Obviously they all know that United are one of the biggest clubs in the world and they will still challenge for the title this year, but it is still incredible the work that Mourinho has done.

The club released a video following the signing of Pogba, pushing their marketing campaign for #Pogback, but even as someone that isn’t a big fan of United, this gave me goosebumps.

In his first interview since rejoining the club, Pogba said that “the time is right to go back to Old Trafford” and said that it was “destiny” that brought him back. He said that United is still his home and he feels like he’s just been away on holiday.

If you’ve been living under a rock and didn’t already know, Pogba is one of the greatest midfielders – and arguably one of the best players – in the world at the moment, and has been praised by some of the biggest names in football. Thierry Henry said that Pogba can go on to become “one of the best in history” whilst Patrick Vieira is quoted as saying that Pogba is an “extraordinary player”.

During his 4 year spell at Juventus, Pogba made 124 appearances scoring 28 goals as well as winning 4 Serie A titles and reaching a Champions League final during his time in Italy. Now he targets winning the Premier League, and with the side United now possess, it’s hard to see them not challenging for the title.
