Kell Brook flies out to New York, will be in attendance for Terence Crawford vs Amir Khan
Kell Brook has jetted to America to watch Amir Khan take on Terence Crawford on Saturday night in New York.
The Sheffield man has decided not only to scout his Bolton rival, but also the American champion as he eyes up a possible big fight against either man later this year.
Brook has been close to fighting Khan on several occasions over the past five years, with the bout never coming to fruition.
It seemed on the verge of completion at the beginning of 2018, only for Amir to decide he’d rather take this US title shot instead.
Kell was planning to return on Anthony Joshua’s undercard, June 1 in New York, however it now seems as though this won’t be happening as the former welterweight champion would prefer to jump straight into a big fight.
Promoter Eddie Hearn explained to IFLTV: “He’s going out to the Amir fight at the weekend to watch. I think he could get the Crawford fight.
“If you look at it, who have Top Rank got at 147lbs? I’ve told Top Rank Kell’s up for that fight.
“Obviously, we’d still like to make the Amir Khan fight. If Amir wins, that fight’s not happening because he’d have to rematch Crawford.
“But if he lost in a good fight, and I believe if Amir loses – and I hope he wins – I see him doing well in the fight. He’s an ultra skilled fighter.”
