Kurt Angle reveals he pitched to face John Cena in his final match – but the WWE chose Baron Corbin anyway
It seems like every fan wanted to see John Cena poetically end Kurt Angle’s career.
For some reason that not many of us can understand, Baron Corbin has been awarded that honour.
Angle will call time on his legendary career after WrestleMania 35 on Sunday and in an interview with Gorilla Position in New York, the WWE Hall of Famer admitted he had pitched to face Cena.
“I was hoping it was going to be John (Cena), but it didn’t happen. I am sure he has another match in mind, but I wanted him to end my career just like when he started, I started it. It was a good little storyline but unfortunately, that’s not how it worked out.”
However, it seems the reason Angle won’t get his wish is as much about WWE having other plans for Cena on the day than anything else.
“I love John and I know he will have a WrestleMania match, I’m not sure they’ve announced it yet but I am almost positive he’s going to be there.”
There has been speculation that Cena may end up interrupting Elias and having an impromptu match.
it’s hard to imagine that’s worth sacrificing a match with Angle, isnt it? Of course, Cena had his first ever main roster match against Angle in 2002 and also inducted the Olympic gold medallist into the WWE Hall of Fame.
