‘Let’s have no bulls***’ – Barry Hearn slams Tyson Fury’s next fight and Dillian Whyte laughs in response

Barry Hearn has praised Dillian Whyte and criticised Tyson Fury ahead of their respective upcoming fights.

Whyte will take on Oscar Rivas on July 20 at the O2 Arena in London, just over a month after Fury travels out to the States to face Tom Schwarz.

Barry Hearn is the founder and chairman of Matchroom Sport

At the first press conference for the ‘Body Snatcher’s’ bout on Monday, Hearn Sr took the reigns from son Eddie and talked up his man before firing a shot at his rival.

Hearn began: “What does Dillian Whyte do before he’s waiting for his position to be clarified?

“The son of a b**** takes a tough fight. This doesn’t happen in boxing, does it?

“All these people in boxing they talk about tough fights, how they’re not scared of anyone, they’ll fight anyone, but the reality is money talks.

“Tyson Fury is the best gypsy boxer in the world, isn’t he? The king of the gypsys who’ll fight any man whatsoever?

“Ah, his next opponent’s ranked number 93 with BoxRec.

“Congratulations, make of it what you want, but let’s have no bulls***, shall we?

“We’re in a money business and we’re here to make a lot of money for the fighters because they’re the ones that are entertaining us and putting it all on the line.”

Tyson Fury faces Tom Schwarz (who’s actually ranked number 37 on BoxRec) on June 15

Whyte, who was clearly amused by Hearn’s comments, has been actively pursuing a WBC title shot against champion Deontay Wilder for the past 18 months and is frustrated having not received his wish.

Meanwhile, Fury did fight the American last December and had the opportunity to rematch him in May, but opted out in order to ink his new co-promotional deal which led to the Schwarz bout.
