Luis Ortiz rejects M to face Anthony Joshua because he wanted M – Eddie Hearn promises to expose Ortiz’s team next week
Anthony Joshua is still looking for an opponent to face him on June 1 after Jarrell Miller failed three drugs tests and had his boxing licence revoked in New York.
Ortiz, who failed a drug test himself for diuretics chlorothaizide and hydrochlorothiazide in September 2017, has won 31 out of his 34 fights to date and has long been ranked as one of the top heavyweights in the world.
His management King Kong Boxing broke the news of rejecting Hearn’s offer on Instagram.
“We just received news from promoter that it’s a no-go and it was all a gimmick and Hearn’s low-ball offers will not be accepted,” wrote King Kong Boxing on Instagram.
“No contract even ever got sent so sorry to all the loyal fans. Luis really wanted this title shot.”
Ortiz only received $500,000 to face Deontay Wilder 13 months ago but at 40-years-old his team are seemingly looking for that big payday.
While they were offered slightly more than than the reported $5 million Miller was set to make for the fight, Hearn disputes how much Miller was making and what Ortiz was offered.
As you can see by the video below, Hearn says he will expose Ortiz and his team next week after they have announced Joshua’s opponent, which they hope to do in the next 48 hours.
Andy Ruiz Jr and Michael Hunter are the two frontrunners as it stands to replace Miller. Hunter is represented by Hearn and that seems the easiest fight to make, but he is already set to fight on May 26.
Ruiz is represented by Al Haymon, so Hearn has some negotiating to do to if he wants to make that happen.
