Luis Suarez: Barcelona man last scored an away Champions League goal in 2015 after drawing blank at Manchester United
Manchester United may have lost to Barcelona but a small piece of comfort they can take is that former Liverpool man Luis Suarez didn’t score.
Suarez did play a big part in the winning goal, though as his header across goal came off Luke Shaw before bouncing into the net as Barca take a 1-0 lead back to the second leg at the Nou Camp.
It continues an unwanted statistic for the Barcelona and Uruguay striker, who leaves Old Trafford having failed to score an away goal in the Champions League in 1,303 days or 1,601 minutes.
Suarez’s last Champions League away goal came in a 1-1 draw with Roma in September 2015.
He is yet to score in seven European games this season, though he has set up three goals for his team-mates.
And although they set up a place in the last eight against United by beating Lyon 5-1, they were incredibly wasteful in their last-16 first leg encounter, failing to convert any of their 25 shots in France.
SUAREZ’S CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GOAL RECORD AT BARCELONA
2018/19: No goals in six matches to date
2017/18: One goal in 10 matches
2016/17: Three goals in nine matches
2015/16: Eight goals in nine games
2014/15: Seven goals in 10 appearances
On a serious note, Suarez is clearly a world class striker.
In LaLiga, the 32-year-old has scored 20 goals in 30 games, contributing six assists along the way.
Suarez certainly showed no signs of lacking bite in Barcelona’s 5-1 thumping of their arch-rivals Real Madrid back in October.

A Suarez goal would have been handy as Barca’s lead is still a narrow one but he and his team-mates will definitely be the happier side after the first leg.
