Man City team news: Ederson ruled out of Liverpool clash with injury, Pep Guardiola confirms ‘incredible’ Claudio Bravo will deputise

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has confirmed that goalkeeper Ederson will miss Sunday’s top-of-the-table clash with Liverpool.

The Brazil keeper suffered a muscular problem in Wednesday night’s Champions League encounter against Atalanta, which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Substitute goalkeeper Claudio Bravo was then given his marching orders in the second half, with City forced to field defender Kyle Walker between the sticks for the closing stages.

And speaking ahead of this weekend’s showdown, Guardiola confirmed Bravo will start in goal at Anfield.

The 36-year-old last started a league game for the club in May 2018, but has the full backing of his manager.

“Ederson is not able to play. I don’t know how long he will be out for, but on Sunday he cannot play,” the Spaniard revealed.
