Manchester United news: David De Gea and Paul Pogba agitating for new deals as pay cut threat looms
Manchester United superstars David De Gea and Paul Pogba are set to demand salary increases at Old Trafford, according to The Times.
The duo are well aware they are both set to incur a 25 per cent pay cut should the Red Devils fail to qualify for the Champions League next year.
The club are currently sixth in the table and the most likely club to miss out with Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, and Arsenal also vying for the final two top four spots.
De Gea has already suffered from the pay cut clause United have in their players’ contracts but it would be a first for Pogba, who has helped them into Europe’s elite competition on two occasions since his 2016 transfers.
And the duo, both wanted by Real Madrid, are set to use the situation to their advantage and demand increases to their base wage with Manchester United worried they could lose the duo for minimal fees if they don’t comply.
