Match Goals Form Guide
One of the most common football adages rolled out by unimaginative pundits is “goals win games”. At FST, we have added our own twist to that clichéd football axiom to make it read – “goals win bets”.
Whether you’ve taken a punt on an over 2.5 total goal selection or are hoping to conquer the both teams to score markets, the sound of a net rattling is music to your ears.
To cater to your needs and help satisfy your goal-lust, we will compile a list of the games that promise the most goals ahead of the action each week.
Armed with this information, you should be able attack those goal markets as a more informed bettor. But remember, it’s okay to take a break from gambling if the results aren’t going your way.

Manchester City vs Crystal Palace – Premier League – Saturday 22nd
Manchester City continued their relentless pursuit of trophies in mid-week with a penalty shootout win over Leicester City in the Quarter Finals of the Carabao Cup.
Even though they scored just once against the Foxes on Tuesday in the game itself, the Citizens quest for glory on multiple fronts has been largely fuelled by their ability to score goals by the bucketful this season.
City are the top scorers in the Premier League this season by a considerable distance, and over 2.5 goals were scored in 89% of their league matches at the Etihad since the summer.
Their opponents this weekend, Crystal Palace, conceded 3 goals in each of their last two Premier League away games at Brighton and West Ham respectively, and with City playing a brand of football that’s far superior to the aforementioned teams, things could get even uglier for the Eagles on Saturday.
In the corresponding fixture last season, City put 5 without reply past a hapless Palace side. A repeat of that scoreline this time around isn’t out of the question.
West Ham vs Watford – Premier League – Saturday 22nd
West Ham are on a roll at the moment. With 4 straight victories in the Premier League, the Irons are currently the 4th best team in the division in terms of form.
West Ham are just 2 points off 6th spot as they prepare to take on London rivals Watford on Saturday, which incidentally is the same points gap between the Hornets and the same lofty position.
Having scored 11 times in their last 4 games, it looks as though West Ham’s attack is really starting to purr, and that in-tune forward line will fancy their chances of maintaining their recent momentum against a Watford defence that’s without a clean sheet in 7.
Over 2.5 goals hit the net in 4 of West Ham’s last 5 fixtures, a figure Watford’s games have matched exactly over their last quintet of contests.
Watford have also conceded at least 2 goals on each of their 5 Premier League outings, a pattern our analysts expect to continue this weekend.
Peterborough United vs Walsall – League One – Saturday 22nd
League One Promotion hopefuls Peterborough United’s recent fixtures have been packed to bursting with drama in the final third.
The Posh’s last 5 matches alone averaged a whopping 4.4 goals per 90 minutes, and Peterborough have only kept 2 clean sheets in their last 12 games since October.
Their antagonists this weekend, Walsall, have only stopped their opponents scoring twice in 16 games in all competitions themselves, and only 5 clubs in League One have conceded more often than the Saddlers this season.
Saturday’s game at the ABAX Stadium is a meeting between two porous defences that are used to conceding often. That should ensure that we see plenty of goals in Peterborough on Saturday.
Barcelona vs Celta Vigo – La Liga – Saturday 22nd
Expert goal plunderers Barcelona, will be aiming to rack up some big numbers again this weekend as they host a Celta Vigo side at the Nou Camp that has won just 2 of their last 9 games.
Barca have averaged just under 3 goals per 90 minutes of La Liga action this season, and they have scored 4 or more goals 8 separate times in 2018/19 in all competitions.
Barcelona smashed home 9 goals in their last 2 league matches alone in 4-0 and 5-0 away wins at Espanyol and Levante respectively.
On Saturday, Celta Vigo take La Liga’s joint 4th worst defensive record into the lion’s den. In addition, Barcelona registered an eye-watering 18 goals in their last 4 meetings with Celta at the Nou Camp between 2016 and January of this year.
With Barcelona’s attacking trident of Messi, Suarez and Dembele looking positively ravenous at the moment, Celta could be on the receiving end of another battering on Saturday.
NAC Breda vs Heerenveen – Eredivisie – Wednesday 19th
Eredivisie relegation candidates NAC Breda go toe-to-toe with Heerenveen on Saturday in a contest that oozes goal scoring potential.
Having conceded 36 goals in just 16 league games so far this season, NAC Breda currently have the 3rd worst defensive record in the Dutch top flight.
Their matches at the Rat Verlegh Stadion have been particularly goal-filled encounters – over 2.5 goals were scored in 75% of their league fixtures so far in 2018/19.
Heerenveen have been one of the most exciting teams to watch in the Eredivisie this term. An average of 4.3 goals have hit the net in their league games this season, and over 2.5 goals have hit the net in 75% of their away matches since the summer.
That stats are hard to ignore in this one, and a glut of goals is expected at the Rat Verlegh Stadion on Saturday.
