Premier League Injury Update – Gameweek 31
Everton vs Arsenal – Sat 19th March – 12:45
Bryan Oviedo is a doubt for this clash, whilst Steven Pienaar, Tyias Browning, and Tony Hibbert all remained sidelined to continue their injury-laden seasons.
Arsenal’s annual midfield crisis is in full flow at the moment, with Mathieu Flamini, Aaron Ramsey, Santi Cazorla, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Tomas Rosicky, and Jack Wilshere all sidelined until April. Petr Cech also joins the midfield contingent in the physio’s office.
Chelsea vs West Ham – Sat 19th March – 15:00
Kurt Zouma and Radamel Falcao remain injured for Chelsea, with Eden Hazard also joining them until the middle of April.
West Ham will be missing the defensive trio of James Collins, James Tomkins, and Carl Jenkinson for this one, with the former two expected out until the start of April and Jenkinson out for longer with an ACL injury.
Watford vs Stoke – Sat 19th March – 15:00
Season long injury list regular Joel Ekstrand is still out, with a hamstring injury this time. He is expected back at the start of April but he’ll probably pick up another injury before then. Miguel Britos and Odion Ighalo are also doubts for the game with muscular injuries.
Key attacker Xherdan Shaqiri is expected out until April, with Ryan Shawcross and Glen Johnson joining him for that period, with Marc Wilson out until the end of April. Erik Pieters, Phil Bardsley, and Charlie Adam are all doubtful too.
Crystal Palace vs Leicester – Sat 19th March – 15:00
Kwesi Appiah remains in recovery from his ACL knee injury, with James McArthur, Marouane Chamakh, Conor Wickham, and Mile Jedinak all joining the Ghanaian on the sidelines for this clash with the Premier League leaders.
Matthew James remains out injured for the Premier League hopefuls, whilst Andy King is also doubtful with a slight hamstring problem.
West Brom vs Norwich – Sat 19th March – 15:00
Chris Brunt won’t make another appearance until Autumn following his ACL knee injury, and James Morrison will join him on the sidelines for a while. Jonny Evans, Craig Dawson, and Callum McManaman are all hoping to make a recovery in time for Saturday’s match though.
Robbie Brady and Steven Naismith are hoping to be back after slight injury worries, but key players Alex Tettey and Nathan Redmond are both on the injured list for Norwich’s crucial relegation run in.
Swansea vs Aston Villa – Sat 19th March – 17:30
Swansea finally have an injury list to write about. Andre Ayew has picked up an ankle injury that will keep him out until the start of April, whilst last week’s goalscorer Modou Barrow and Jefferson Montero are doubtful for Saturday’s game.
Gabby Agbonlahor and Carlos Sanchez are doubts for this match for Aston Villa, whilst Adama Traore, Libor Kozak, Jordan Amavi, and Jack Grealish remain injured, with all but Amavi expected back at the start of next month.
Newcastle vs Sunderland – Sun 20th March – 13:30
Newcastle captain Fabricio Coloccini and Chancel Mbemba are fighting for fitness ahead of this crucial Tyne-Wear derby. Paul Dummett, Papiss Cisse, Cheikh Tiote, Kevin Mbabu, Massadio Haidara, Tim Krul, Gabriel Obertan, and Craig Good are all expected to miss out for Newcastle as they continue their status as the unhealthiest squad in the Premier Leaugue.
Jermain Defoe, Lee Cattermole, and Jeremain Lens are all expected to be back from injury for Sunderland, and all could prove to be crucial players in a fiercely contested derby. Emmanuel Eboue and Duncan Watmore will miss out though.
Southampton vs Liverpool – Sun 20th March – 13:30
Charlie Austin and Florin Gardos are both sidelined until April, but the shock news is that the injury laden Jay Rodriguez could finally be back in action for Southampton.
Jordan Henderson is suffering from illness for Liverpool, while fellow central midfielder Lucas Leiva joins Danny Ings and Joe Gomez on the injury list. Alberto Morena is hoping to be back after a minor hamstring problem.
Manchester City vs Manchester United – Sun 20th March – 16:00
Key central defenders Nicolas Otamendi and Vincent Kompany are both expected to miss this derby day clash for Manchester City. Midfield trio Fabian Delph, Kevin De Bruyne, and Samir Nasri remain sidelined.
Ander Herrera and Cameron Bothwick-Jackson are hoping to be back to full fitness for this crucial trip across Manchester. Will Keane, Wayne Rooney, Phil Jones, Ashley Young, and Luke Shaw are all still suffering though, with all but Shaw expected back at the start of April.
Tottenham Hotspur vs Bournemouth – Sun 20th March – 16:00
Ben Davies went off in Tottenham Hotspur’s midweek game against Borussia Dortmund and will miss this one with a head injury. Jan Vertonghen remains sidelined with his MCL knee injury, and Clinton N’Jie has suffered a recovery setback and now won’t be back until the start of April.
Harry Arter is a slight doubt for Bournemouth heading into this game. The casualty list remains the same other than that, with Junior Stanislas and Callum Wilson expected back at either end of April and Tyrone Mings out until September.
