Raheem Sterling: Headteacher of Ark Elvin Academy issues thank you to Manchester City star for buying students tickets for FA Cup tie

The headteacher of a school that Raheem Sterling bought FA Cup tickets for has said everyone has been ‘blown away’ by the Manchester City man’s generosity.

Sterling, who attended Ark Elvin Academy in London as a child, bought 550 tickets for pupils to go to City’s FA Cup semi-final tie against Brighton on Saturday – a match you can listen to live on talkSPORT.

City have sold 25,000 tickets to date, having been handed an allocation of roughly 30,000.

And 550 of those will go to the lucky pupils of the school with ten students and a teacher even travelling up to Manchester to thank the England winger himself.

However, headteacher of the school Rebecca Curtis also spoke to talkSPORT 2 to heap more praise on ‘hero’ Sterling.

She said: “I was originally contacted by his agent on Tuesday this week saying that he specifically said that he would love to give those tickets to children from our school.

“We had to allocate those for 900 children and we sent letters home and the response has been unsurprisingly overwhelming.

“Our very excited head of PE and ten of our students have actually travelled all expenses to Manchester City today to meet Raheem himself so he is getting a special thank you from us.

“But those ten children will never forget today and they’ll never forget Saturday and they’re so grateful.
