Rangers vs Celtic: Old Firm derby preview, team news, manager quotes and predicted line-ups
It is first against second in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday in the Old Firm derby at Ibrox.
Rangers need to win to stop the Hoops from opening up a sizeable lead over them.
The visitors have won their last three games while scoring 10 goals in the process. The home side have picked up nine points from their last six matches.
Their earlier meeting in September at Celtic Park ended in a 1-0 win for Celtic with Brendan Rodgers maintain his incredible record of not losing to Rangers in 12 games.
There will only be 750 Celtic fans at Ibrox for the match, that kicks off at 12.30pm, as the allocation was cut from 7,000.
What the managers are saying
Steven Gerrard (Rangers): “We have to bring our ‘A’ game.
“We’re playing against a good team who’ll be well-drilled. We know that we have to bring our best to get the result we want.
“I’m confident the players can do that. It’s the last fixture, there’s 90 minutes to go empty it for and give everything you’ve got.
“Let’s see where it takes us.
“We’ve certainly got respect for the opposition but what a fantastic opportunity for the players to go try to get the result we need.”
Brendan Rodgers (Celtic): “My feeling always is that it is better in both grounds whenever both sets of supporters are there,” he said.
“However, they are not. There will be about 750 of our supporters there.
“We hope the whole game can pass safely and there’s no issues around that and it is just the football.
“But it can work for and against you as the home team in that situation, when you have predominately the support in the ground.
“It can add something to the players either a positive or a negative.
“But we just have to approach the game as we always do with our own way of working, respect Rangers are a good team, some very good results this year.
Connor Goldson, Gareth McAuley, Scott Arfield and Ryan Kent have injuries for Gerrard’s side but said decisions will be made with the ones who are “touch and go” closer to the match.
For Celtic, Kieran Tierney is still a doubt with a hip injury and will be assessed on Friday afternoon. Tom Rogic is away on international duty with Australia while Jozo Simunovic has returned to training.
