Ricky Hatton becomes a ‘Lord’ thanks to girlfriend’s bizarre Christmas present
Ricky Hatton can now officially call himself a ‘Lord’ after his girlfriend bought him the right as a present for Christmas.
Hatton’s partner Charlie went down a creative route when shopping for festive gifts this year, and purchased her other half a five square foot piece of land in Cumbria, which entitles him to be officially recognised as a ‘Lord’.
As a result, the super-lightweight and welterweight boxing world champion now has a new title to his name as ‘Lord Richard of Hougun Manor’.
The delighted ex-fighter took to social media to show off the present, which states: “This certificate asserts the legal right to assume the honorific title ‘Lord Richard Hatton of Hougun Manor’.
“Furthermore, Lord Richard Hatton shall be assigned dedicated land within the Hougun Manor estate, Cumbria, England.”
During his professional career, Hatton held the IBF, WBA, Ring Magazine and lineal titles at super-lightweight as well as a WBA title at welterweight.
He is yet to comment on how his new title compares with those he obtained in the ring.
