Sean Cox: Liverpool supporter to leave hospital for first time since suffering serious injury to attend legends match on Friday

Sean Cox, the Liverpool supporter who suffered catastrophic head injuries in an attack by Roma fans last April, will leave hospital for the first time to attend a charity match organised to raise funds for his treatment.

Mr Cox was assaulted before Liverpool’s Champions League semi-final match at Anfield 12 months ago.

Mr Cox has been under care since the assault last April

The Dunboyne man suffered a bleed on his brain after impact injuries to his head, and he required emergency surgery.

Mr Cox spent months receiving specialist neurological care at Dublin’s Beaumont Hospital, before being transferred to a rehabilitation centre.

He is now set to leave hospital for the first time in almost a year to attend Dublin’s Aviva Stadium on Friday, April 14.
