Sol Campbell’s Southend United dumped out of FA Cup first round by National League opponents Dover Athletic
Southend United’s season keeps going from bad to worse as the League One side crashed out of the FA Cup to National League Dover Athletic.
Sol Campbell’s side were sent out in the first round of the competition thanks to substitute Ruel Sotiriou’s goal late on in the second half.
The on-loan Leyton Orient forward smashed past Nathan Bishiop with six minutes left to pile on the misery for Campbell and his team.
There was little to separate the sides throughout the match with Andy Hessenthaler’s men having the better of the chances at Crabble on Sunday.
Dover are the first non-league side to knock out league opposition in the first round of the competition.
