Terence Crawford vs Amir Khan: Brit admits victory at Madison Square Garden would top his New York wedding day
Amir Khan faces the toughest test of his career this Saturday when he takes on Terence Crawford for his WBO welterweight title.
Crawford is widely regarded as one of the very best pound-for-pound fighters in the world today, but Khan himself is a two-time former world champion.
There’s no doubt the fight is a tall order, but Khan has a definite chance, too. The 32-year-old knows what a win would do for his career and legacy.
So much so, for some reason, Khan posed himself a question that should have been rhetorical when talking to the media.
“Would beating Terence Crawford in New York top our wedding day here? My wife will kill for me this, but I have to say yes. Definitely.”
“This fight means so much to my legacy. This will be a fight talked about for years and years to come,” Khan added. “I am putting everything on the line and I want this so much”.
Khan has nothing to lose and everything to gain when he takes on Crawford at Madison Square Garden and many believe a date with Kell Brook in the UK will remain in the offing regardless of the outcome.
Once his wife sees his comments, though, he might not make it to Saturday!
