Upset Manchester City fan wants Pep Guardiola to be SACKED after latest Champions League failure against Tottenham

A ‘devastated’ Manchester City fan believes Pep Guardiola should be SACKED after his latest Champions League failure.

City have once again failed to make it past the quarter-final stage, as they were dumped out by Premier League rivals Tottenham on Wednesday night in the most dramatic fashion.

Pep Guardiola is one of football’s most successful managers, but has been labelled a fraud by some fans in recent years

Raheem Sterling celebrated too early as he was sensationally denied a stoppage-time winner by VAR, with the tie finishing 4-4 and Spurs progressing on away goals.

It was a disastrous result for quadruple-chasing City, and for their boss.

Guardiola has been hailed as the greatest football manager of a generation.

A serial winner who has won major trophies at every club he has coached, and yet he is again facing claims he is a fraud after his latest failure in Europe.

The Spaniard has already won the Champions League twice as manager of Barcelona, but in charge of big-spending Bayern Munich and even bigger-spending Manchester City he has not managed to reach the final.

Guardiola won two Champions Leagues with Barcelona – but his last European triumph was eight years ago

With the resources at his disposal, that just isn’t good enough for some.

City’s mega-rich Qatari owners are probably among them, and another is Manchester City fan, Dave.

Calling into talkSPORT after Wednesday night’s disappointment, Dave said the Spaniard has hugely under-performed in charge of City’s millions and says a change in the dugout is needed.

He told The Sports Bar: “I’m absolutely devastated to be making this call…

“But if it was up to me, I would get rid of Pep Guardiola.

“He’s been here for three years and what has he done?

City were so close to finally making it to the last four in the Champions League

“He’s won one Premier League title and one League Cup – on penalties!

“In my eyes, if he does not win the Premier League this year, what has he done?

“We’ve got multi-billions to spend and we lost tonight to Spurs who have spent no money and their star striker is injured!

“We need somebody who is a proven winner – why would you not go for Jurgen Klopp?

“If Klopp wins the double this year, he’s done a lot better than Guardiola has in three years at Man City.”
