Watford vs Chelsea: match preview, team news, confirmed line-ups, plus more
Watford host Chelsea on Boxing Day with the travelling team hoping for an immediate response to their home defeat to Leicester City.
The Blues suffered their first loss at Stamford Bridge under Maurizio Sarri on Saturday as Jamie Vardy sealed an unlikely 1-0 victory for the Foxes.
And they face a difficult task if they are to return to winning ways.
Chelsea were on the wrong end of a chastening 4-1 defeat to Watford last time they travelled to Vicarage Road and their hosts are in fine form.
The Hornets are flying high in seventh after back-to-back victories, including their most recent 2-0 win at West Ham.
What the managers are saying
Javier Gracia (Watford): “Now is another game. It’s different. We know it will be very demanding for us because we are playing against one of the best teams in the league.
“It’s not easy because they have very good mechanism to attack. And they have very good players with different options.
“But to get a clean sheet at West Ham is something good for us. It shows us that working together with the solidarity we had, we can do well. We are able to compete and win.”
Maurizio Sarri (Chelsea): “The (Watford) match is difficult, we know very well. We have to study very well these kinds of opponents.
“I think now the most important thing is our reaction after the match.
“In the match the reaction was not in the right way.
“Now we have to think about the reaction after the match, just in order to prepare in the right way the next match.”
