Troy Deeney celebrates after his penalty

Deeney charged towards the corner flag and after his attempted knee slide failed to come off, he wildly punched the corner flag, with his actions infuriating the Hammers fans.

As he was congratulated by team-mates, the cup was thrown towards him, before being led away from any further incidents.

West Ham are likely to face an FA probe over the incident, and the club are ready to stand by their zero tolerance policy and hand a lifetime ban to the supporter who threw the cup.

A club spokesman told the Sun: “We are aware of the incident and will be working to identify the offender.
