WrestleMania 35: Becky Lynch wins first-ever women’s WrestleMania main event with controversial pin of Ronda Rousey
Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey made history on Sunday night as they became the first women in history to main event WrestleMania.
The 35th iteration of the event was a huge success, but the main event had a controversial ending.
The SmackDown and Raw Women’s title were both on the line in this match and the winner would win both belts.
With Rousey and the 2019 Royal Rumble winner Lynch battling it out late on, Lynch appeared to counter Rousey’s Piper’s Pit into a cradle pin.
She scored the pinfall victory, but replays show that Rousey’s shoulders weren’t down.
This is the kind of ambiguity that leaves it open to a rematch, but it’s hard to say it was the right call on this night.
Fans wanted to see Lynch make Rousey tap but it looks like she has been protected despite reports she will now be taking time off from the company.
