WrestleMania 35: Kofi Kingston wins the WWE title from Daniel Bryan after 11 years with the company
Kofi Kingston’s 11-year odyssey to the WWE title finally came to fruition at WrestleMania 35 in New York on Sunday.
The New Day member got the WWE title shot he had to fight so hard for when he went head-to-head with Daniel Bryan at the MetLife Stadium.
After Bryan controlled the early portions of the match with lots of stretches and holds to wear down a lively Kingston, Kofi began to make some progress.
A series of counters from both men made for a frantic contest that had the whole of New Jersey gripped to the action.
Despite taking Bryan’s Running Knee and the LaBell Lock on several occasions, KofiMania refused to be denied.
After several Brayn-like kicks on the floor, Kingston finally arrived as WWE champions after 11-years thanks to Trouble in Paradise.
As you can see, New Day were incredibly emotional at the climax of the match and they presented their brother with the original WWE title that Bryan had chucked away.
An unbelievable moment that the WWE Universe couldn’t have been more invested in.
