WWE gossip column: Sasha Banks was not backstage at RAW last night, The Shield’s final match an all of today’s top news
The Superstar Shakeup is underway and we are one night down out of two.
With a lot of moves being made in the company at the moment, let’s take a look at the rumours doing the rounds:
Backstage notes on Sami Zayn’s heel promo
WWE is heavily scripted these days, but in an interview with tvasports.ca, Sami Zayn revealed he said exactly what he wanted in his debut heel promo.
“I had a model of the promo that I wanted. I sat down with an agent and dictated my promo. He wrote it and passed the validation process. I don’t know if I’m one of the people who has that privilege. But that night, I had a chance to say what I personally wrote. Sometimes you say things you don’t necessarily want to say in a promo. And sometimes it’s more like what you had in mind.”
The Shield’s final advertised match
As noted in yesterday’s Gossip Column, Dean Ambrose still has a couple of live event dates left in the WWE. One of those is this Sunday and the WWE plan to air it on the WWE Network.
WWE announced: “In what will be the groundbreaking faction’s FINAL match together, Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns & Universal Champion Seth Rollins will team up for a special event, The Shield’s Last Chapter, streaming LIVE this Sunday, April 21, at 9:30 p.m. ET/6:30 p.m. PT on WWE Network. Don’t miss the legendary trio’s final ride together in WWE.”
Travel problems caused Raw to be rewritten late
John Pollock reported prior to last night’s Monday Night Raw that travel issues hindered several superstars yesterday and the show was rewritten as a result.
Samoa Joe was allegedly supposed to confront Braun Strowman, but that was nixed due to an illness, not travel.
Sasha Banks wasn’t at Raw last night
The Boss wasn’t on Raw last night and she wasn’t even backstage, according to PW Insider.
There has been plenty of speculation that Banks tried to quit WWE after WrestleMania 35 but the former women’s champion seem to shoot those rumours down on Twitter yesterday. Travel issues could have prevented her appearance. Banks has now deleted the tweet.
Shinsuke Nakamura ‘has or will re-sign with WWE’
According to Dave Meltzer via Cageside Seats, Shinsuke Nakamura ‘has already signed or will re-sign’ with the WWE.
The Japanese star’s contract was set to run out at the end of April and given how he was being used, not many within the company expected him to stay.
